Commemorating History and Perpetuating Friendship: “Friendship Forged in the Flames of War: Exhibition of the Rescue Operation in Shangrao for the Doolittle Raiders” Opens
On April 18, 1942, Lieutenant Colonel James Harold Doolittle of the U.S. Army Air Force led 16 B-25 bombers in a historic air raid against Japan, known as the Doolittle Raid. Due to fuel exhaustion and communication failures, 15 bombers with 75 Doolittle raiders crash-landed or parachuted in China. Thanks to the heroic rescue efforts of Chinese military personnel and civilians, 64 Doolittle raiders were saved, including 18 Doolittle Raiders were rescued in Shangrao before being safely evacuated to rear areas. The Rescue Operation in Shangrao for the Doolittle Raiders stands as a vivid testament to the joint fight of the Chinese and American people against fascism, leading to ultimate victory during World War II. To commemorate this shared wartime heroism and reinforce the Sino-U.S. friendship forged through blood and fire, the exhibition titled “Friendship Forged in the Flames of War: Exhibition of the Rescue Operation in Shangrao for the Doolittle Raiders” officially opened at the Shangrao Museum on August 14. 来源:江西国际传播中心 ![]() |
